Final release of Round 11 data |
|
Data from all countries who took part in Round 11 (2023/24) of the European Social Survey (ESS) has been included in the latest release. The updated integrated file (Edition 4.0) includes data from Estonia and Ukraine for the first time, alongside data from 28 other countries. The previous edition included data from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Due to a lack of interviewer capacity, Czechia was allowed to use self-completion methods – this data is therefore only available as a country-specific file. As well as questions fielded in every round, Round 11 included items on ‘Gender in contemporary Europe’ and ‘Social inequalities in health and their determinants’. Led by Susan Banducci (University of Birmingham), the gender module explored sexist attitudes, gender discrimination, gender equality, and public policies that aim to address gender inequalities. Health questions were designed by a team led by Mirza Balaj (Maastricht University) and featured many of the items first fielded in Round 7 (2014/15). These focused on key drivers for health outcomes, such as health risk behaviours, as well as other determinants, including working and housing conditions. |
