The Executive Committee of the Sociological Association of Ukraine has expressed its strong protest and profound concern regarding the inclusion in the programme of the 17th European Sociological Association (ESA) Conference in Warsaw of presentations by participants affiliated with academic institutions in the Russian Federation.
The SAU supported the Resolution adopted by the Local Organising Committee of the conference in Warsaw and called on the ESA leadership to reconsider the participation in the conference programme of presenters affiliated with Russian scientific institutions. At the same time, the Association emphasises that its position concerns institutional affiliation exclusively and does not constitute discrimination based on nationality, citizenship, origin, or individual political beliefs.
The statement stresses the need to integrate the principles of academic freedom with social and institutional responsibility in situations of military aggression.

Виконавчий комітет Соціологічної асоціації України висловив рішучий протест і глибоке занепокоєння у зв’язку з включенням до програми 17-ї конференції Європейської соціологічної асоціації (ESA), що проходить у Варшаві, доповідей учасників, афілійованих із науковими установами Російської Федерації.
САУ підтримала резолюцію Локального організаційного комітету конференції у Варшаві та закликала керівництво ESA переглянути участь у програмі представників російських наукових установ. Водночас в Асоціації наголошують, що ця позиція стосується виключно інституційної афіліації та не є обмеженням за ознакою національності, громадянства, походження чи особистих політичних поглядів.
У заяві САУ підкреслюється необхідність поєднання принципів академічної свободи із соціальною та інституційною відповідальністю в умовах воєнної агресії.
